Owner Commission & Driver Penalty Policy
Last updated: September 29, 2026
This policy explains how SabKi Sawari's platform commission is charged on completed bookings, and how Driver cancellation penalties work. Commission and penalties are separate charges with separate rules - this page keeps them apart so neither is mistaken for the other. Both are always shown in the app for the specific booking or vehicle they apply to; the summary below explains how each is calculated.
1. Platform Commission
SabKi Sawari charges a platform commission on eligible completed bookings. The commission rate is configurable by SabKi Sawari and is shown in the app. The current launch rate is 0%. SabKi Sawari does not promise this rate is permanent; the rate may change in the future, and any change applies prospectively (to bookings made after the change is communicated), never retroactively to bookings already completed.
2. Who Pays Commission
Commission is charged per vehicle, based on who the vehicle belongs to - not based on who is physically driving it:
- Owner-owned vehicle: commission is charged to the Owner's wallet. This applies whether the trip is driven by a Driver hired by that Owner, or by the Owner driving the vehicle themselves (self-drive). A hired Driver operating an Owner's vehicle does not pay the standard booking commission - that charge goes to the Owner.
- Independent Driver-owned vehicle: where a Driver owns and operates their own approved vehicle with no Owner involved, commission is charged to that Driver's own wallet.
Commission is calculated on the applicable booking fare at the platform's current commission rate, rounded to the nearest whole Rupee, and charged once per completed, eligible booking.
3. Driver Penalties (Separate From Commission)
Driver penalties are a distinct charge from commission and only apply when a Driver cancels or terminates a trip outside the platform's normal rules. Penalties are charged to the Driver's own wallet regardless of whether the vehicle is Owner-owned or independently owned, because the penalty relates to the Driver's own action, not vehicle ownership.
- Late cancellation by a Driver: the current default penalty is 5% of the applicable booking fare per affected booking.
- Trip terminated by a Driver after any passenger has been picked up: the current default penalty is 20% of the applicable booking fare per affected booking. Ending a trip after pickup is only intended for genuine emergencies and requires confirmation through the app; it cannot be used to avoid the late-cancellation penalty above.
These percentages are the current platform defaults and are configurable by SabKi Sawari; the rate applied to any specific booking is shown in the app. SabKi Sawari may review and waive a penalty at its discretion, for example where a cancellation was caused by a passenger or by circumstances outside the Driver's control.
4. Fare Range That Commission and Penalties Are Based On
Commission and Driver penalties are both calculated on the applicable booking fare - the actual fare confirmed for that specific booking, within the fare range set for the route. SabKi Sawari sets a minimum and maximum fare guardrail per route; where a vehicle belongs to an Owner, the Owner may set a tighter fare range within SabKi Sawari's range for their vehicles; the Driver operating the trip selects the final fare within whichever range applies. See Terms & Conditions for the full fare-setting rules.
5. Disputes
If you believe a commission or penalty charge was applied incorrectly, contact support@sabkisawari.com with the booking reference and a description of the issue. See our Community Guidelines for how reports and disputes are handled.
6. Changes to This Policy
SabKi Sawari may update this policy as the commission engine, penalty rules, or business model evolve. The current rates in effect for any booking or vehicle are always shown in the app at the time they apply.
